Celebrating and Releasing 2015! Let’s Welcome 2016, The Year of the Monkey!

Celebrating and releasing 2015 is a must if I want to welcome 2016, the year of the Monkey with energy and positive vibes. I proceed to embrace myself for a year of work, enjoyment, dearing and risking topics and myself! The Monkey arrives to rock you if you let him! The trickster of the Chinese Zodiac, the Monkey, will bring you energy if you dare to take it! But before I write all about my intentions for 2016, I’d like to cleanse 2015! It has been a year of happiness, sadness and difficult times for me. While writing has kept me on track, some personal issues have challenged not only me but my entire family.
Hope and positive vibes can make you go through difficult times. Never lose the sense of humor, because a laugh can save your life during tough times. This is what 2015 taught me. I know, it sounds harsh, but it’s true. While everything was cool and gorgeous on my professional and blogging life, my private life has seen some harsh lows during 2015.
For some unknown reason, April is the hot celebration month of the family. We have lots of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. In 2015 we added a new wedding anniversary to the list: my uncle got married, and it was cool. However, not even a month after getting married he had a massive heart attack. He was hospitalized, and doctors gave him no hopes for survival since no heart was on the horizon for him. You can imagine the mood of the family: we were devastated. However, destiny gave my uncle a second chance and he got a new heart in extremis! He’s alive, recovering and trying to make the best of the second chance life has granted him. Not even two months from that my 95-year-old grandmother broke her leg. She had intensive surgery, and despite the grim prognosis of doctors, she made it. However, three weeks after surgery, a crazy nurse broke her leg again. So, she had to take a second surgery… [Yes, the nurse fault. And yes, we changed hospital!] Because my grandma must be made from a different type of materials, she made it again, and now she is still recovering in the new hospital with a huge smile waiting for the doctors to let her come home again.
To these events we have to add sad news: just before Xmas, our 18-year-old kitty died. [For a cat, that’s a bunch of years. Usually, a cat lives for around 11 years according to his Vet.] It was devastating for us because one of our beloved pets and family member passed away. However, we decided to grant him a loving funeral and remember him for what he was: the most lovable, amazing and gorgeous kitty you’ve ever met. We’ve laughed with him so much. We’ve played with him so much more, and we’ll always remember him with a smile on our faces.
These events of having two members of the family hospitalized and losing our beloved kitty have taught us something very important: the need of jokes. Difficult times are difficult enough as to be gloomy. Someone needs to put sadness aside and make some jokes. Otherwise there won’t be any hope. How can we hope if we’re unable to laugh?

The dreams that came true during 2015.
After a two-year research about Loki, I finally published my book Geek Anthropology of Loki’s Army! You can imagine the huge party I made when I finally got the paperback between my hands. It was amazing! After so long, I finally was able to see my baby! Priceless!
Another dream that came true was being able to be part of a blogger community in which I would feel welcomed. Not only I found it, but I also made lots of friends! I’ve been reading blogs, commenting and befriending wonderful geek girl bloggers who share my passions! This was one of the best things of the year by far! Being able to communicate through social media and also have the chance of meeting some of them in person in the near future makes me incredibly happy!!
Another forever dream that came true during 2015 was being able to have a healthy diet. It came in a very unexpected shape: I stopped eating sugar. At the moment I’m writing this, it’s been six sugar-free months of goodness and hard work. To stop sweets is hard, but to stop sugar entirely is a mammoth undertaking. Why? Most products in the supermarket have added sugars!! At the beginning, it was hard because I had to read every single ingredient of every single thing that I wanted to buy. Results: not only I changed the supermarket and most of the food, but I also discovered that most brands put sugar everywhere! Even in salty stuff! Now I am happy with my decision!

The incredible thing I discovered about myself during 2015.
I’m tougher and crazier than I thought. Seriously! 2015 has shown me that my personality and will are made of steel. If I put myself into doing something, my persistence will bring me to new shores, for good and evil. I am tough, and I am hard to break, but I had no idea how much till 2015. It has been a year of realizing that my attitude towards life isn’t that common and that some people are somewhat scared of me just because I have a strong personality, and I say things straight to your face if I need to.
Not only the sugar endeavor has shown me that if I want to do something, I will do it regardless of the world ending all around me, revisiting past events of my life have opened my eyes into the wonderful being I am. Let me tell you that this realization is the most uplifting and ego-boosting thing ever!
What I thank 2015 for.
Family, second chances and wisdom. 2015 has given me a strong bond with my family, lots of second chances and a lot of wisdom. I am grateful that the most important people in my life are safe and sound, that we are all having wonderful second chances, and that we’ve been able to gain so much wisdom from all the experiences that we’ve had during this year that’s about to end. For that, and much more, I’m very grateful.

2016 is the year of the tricky, smart and daring Monkey. It’s a year to move our butts! If you’re thinking about relaxing, forget it because success it’s for those who are eager to dare and to work for it during 2016!! So, I’m polishing my fingertips and preparing myself for a long and gorgeous year of non-stop blogging! I plan to double at least the number of words written on this blog during 2015!! [Grammarly said I was Batman during 2015, right? In 2016 I plan to be Superman, Loki or Dr. Strange. Be advised!]
I want to live my fullest me during 2016 and write all about it here. Explore Geek Anthropology to unknown realms and explore all the Superhero movies that are around the corner. I will find out patterns and post my findings here as soon as I hit the cinema! Embrace yourselves because I’m going to unleash my favorite fandoms to new levels! I’ve got the energy, the will, and the patience to make it happen. And I will: during 2016! This blog is going to be on fire because I’ll try to post at least twice a day (except weekends, time I need to recharge batteries!)
Blogging Goals for 2016
- Explore more topics about Geek Anthropology while giving more depth to those I’ve already introduced in the blog during 2015.
- Introduce more Female Superhero comics, from nowadays and from the past, and find out how badass they might be.
- Write more guides about reading comics for beginners. Possibilities before finishing Loki Agent of Asgard: Spider-Gwen, Silk, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Superior Iron Man, Daredevil, among others. [I’m open to suggestions here.]
- Write more books! One is in the works, so I expect to have something to show you around Spring!
- Exploring cool fandom characters from a Geek Anthropological perspective. What do they tell us? Why do we like them? Why not?
- Remembering Japan through my experiences living there. Comparing them with US, UK, and Spain. What things make us closer? What things make us different?
- Getting more personal in my blog so you can know me more. Yay!
- Starting a Patreon profile and creating cool stuff for sponsors that want to know more about the topics I love.
- Creating more cool give aways for you! I want them to be either kawaii or related to Superheroes or the fandoms I love.
- And starting new and wonderful sections so that we can enjoy them together!

This year I give myself permission to:
- Be me and share it with the whole world in all my glory, with the good and the evil! [Remember I’m a Sith, I belong to the house of Slitherin, I’m a Lokinion and I’m also pretty Hooked!]
- Write long, short and amazing posts on this blog! I plan to enjoy every single bit about the process of exploring, writing and sharing!
- Join any other fandoms that I might fall in love with [despite the staggering amount of fandoms I already belong to!]
- Take more pics about me and share them here! [I’ve found out that I haven’t shared many pictures about me as a whole. So, I might do some more during 2016.]
- Dare trying out new things! It’s the year of the Monkey, and we’re supposed to be daredevils! So, I will be!
- Plan gorgeous strategies for my social media, plotting them in a Loki fashion with the obscure plan of rulling the whole world.
- Attempt global domination!
Fandom Goals for 2016.
- Visit Hogwarts and have a Harry Potter experience in London. Sorry, not sorry, but I need to explore the Snape way!
- Write a book about my favorite characters (Hook here I come!) and do it in a way readers will fall in love with them too! [Remember that evil plan for global domination? Here it is!]
- Cosplay Hook in my own way. I know, I should go for accuracy, but… Hmmm… I want to do it in a way that I feel comfortable.
- Organize a Geek Girls Bloggers meeting with fellow geek bloggers who happen to be around London, and obviously: post all about it! [I’m in Brighton so that it will happen during daylight.]
- Take a picture along with one of my Pharaoh ancestors (one of the Pepi mummies existing somewhere). I’ll try the British Museum.
- Engage in LARPing: either OUAT, Vikings, LOTR or Harry Potter. I’m not picky, but, I want to be a villain!
- Binge-watch Battlestar Galactica again. I miss Baltar and Caprica 6!
- Take more funny pictures of my Funko collection outside. Yup, I want to find cool places where to take crazy pics.
- Visit Tokyo and geek out all over it! [Which means spamming you through my social media with tons of pictures.]
- Learn how to play The Imperial March (Star Wars) with my Ukulele.
- Find a ghost in a castle. Then find his remains, salt them and put them on fire. [I hope there are remains because if not, I’ll need to call Sam and Dean to fix the mess.]

[tweetthis]Happy New Year 2016. Let’s dare writing like a Monkey! #newyear #blogging[/tweetthis]
