Fandom Friday: 5 Fandom Deaths I’m Still Upset About…SPOILERS!

fandom friday, fandom, geek anthropology, pop culture, depepi.com

This week’s fandom Friday has a great topic: fandom deaths I’m still upset about. I am really passionate about the shows I love to watch, binge-watch and re-watch again and again. And every time I end up watching the same episodes, I get as angry as the first time because: you evil writers from hell killed one of my favorite characters!! It’s not being upset, it’s being really angry, especially with some female characters on my list. Writers, please, stop fridging women!

Now, trust my rage, and feel the pain along with me. (Some of my choices will come as a surprise, I know, but I love these characters!)

1. Ruby 2.0 (Oh! How she played Sam!)

fandom friday, supernatural, SPN, SPNFamily, depepi, depepi.com, ruby, ruby 2.0

I know this might come with a surprise, but I loved her in the show! How she played Sam and the chemistry with him on the screen! (And you know already that the chemistry is real.) But, as a characters she was mischievous and sneaky, and I loved that. She would have had enough fuel as to made the brothers mad, or even play games with Crowley! You have a mischievous woman in the show and you fridge her. I was so upset and disappointed I really was mad. I liked Ruby 2.0, and I wish she would have been on the show for a longer time! (By the way, out of topic: she would make a great Loki. I can see all the daggers coming my way now… but she looks mischievous enough as to be a great Loki. Oh, well, I’ll keep on dreaming).

2. Charlie (a geek like me!)

fandom friday, supernatural, SPN, SPNFamily, depepi, depepi.com, charlie

Another fridged female character. Seriously, why do you have to kill all the women on the show!!!??? She is cool, badass, dorky and adorable! Supernatural has a serious problem with fridging female characters and make the audience angry because of it. A Charlie Funko Pop will not calm me down. (Fortunately Felicia Day wrote a book: but that’s meta-text, so you better find out a way to solve your fridging… will you start on season 11, if ever?) Please stop fridging cool adorkable female characters.

3. Padmé Amidala (like there’s no technology in the whole Galaxy!)

fandom friday, supernatural, SPN, SPNFamily, depepi, depepi.com, padmé amidala

With all the technology in the whole Galaxy and she dies giving birth? Seriously!? You have Darthy roasted and barely human, and they make the impossible to create the badass cyborg he became and you have nothing for women giving birth!? Are you kidding me!? As you can see, this is not being upset but being angry! Not that I loved Padmé at all, but I was so disappointed on how they killed her out. (Picture me having a tantrum every time I end up watching her die while you have to put Darth Puzzle together. It’s not fair!) Please, stop using weak arguments to kill off female characters to explain the male ones. It’s weak on the story side, and it enrages half of the audience. Remember: your audience is made up with males and females!

4. Data (again, so much technology and then you kill him off like that!?)

fandom friday, supernatural, SPN, SPNFamily, depepi, depepi.com, data, star trek

In Star Trek Nemesis Data dies with no logical reason, and we are left with a downgraded copy of him at the end of the movie (one that they found on a planet). It wasn’t necessary to kill off Data. It was weak writing that really made me upset. I’ve been angry with this movie so much so, that I decided to skip the ending and create my own into my head. Again, having enough technology to make things end up in a different way, writers decide to use the weakest version of it so that we end up crying? Dudes! You made us angry!

5. Snape (life wasn’t fair with poor Snape!)

fandom friday, snape, harry potter, the feels, depepi, depepi.com

While all my choices above have been of anger, the last one is all about sentiment. I was really upset with Snape’s death. It was unfair and so tragic! I can’t get over it, even if I watch all the movies again. He was quite creepy somehow, but he was so nice at the same time. At the very end we all discovered the great guy he was. And all she made for love. Oh, Snape, I get so upset every single time you die!
