To make artificial intelligence help you at work, you need to go from AI anxiety to AI mastery. Let’s be honest: most of the Hollywood movies in existence creep the hell out of our souls with doomsday scenarios. Terminator’s Skynet is spooky, but our imagination makes matters worse.
You might have listened to the word “automation” at work already. Or you might see yourself out the door because your job might end up “changed” by artificial intelligence. So, instead of resisting change and letting fear of the unknown paralyze you, consider opening your mind to a new horizon: working with AI.
Know Your Brain First
Before starting headfirst with artificial intelligence, you need to have a little understanding of how your brain works. It’s a fantastic nature’s machine! The very thing that prevented us from going the way of the Dodo is now creating massive amounts of anxiety.
Our friend, the amygdala, triggers anxiety. It’s a smoke alarm that helps us stay away from harm. It starts our flight or fight mode! However, the amygdala alone isn’t responsible for jumping to make us run. Our cortex can tell the amygdala to action anxiety just with imagination! (That horror movie that didn’t let you sleep? There you go!)
Play With AI
To go from anxiety to mastery and make artificial intelligence help you, you’ll need to play and tinker with it. You don’t even need to pay for that! Start with ChatGPT3. Once you get comfortable with prompting, you can proceed with ChatGPT4 and explore illustrations with DALL-E3.
You can start learning how to use it to find a new job or to jumpstart your indie author career. The main aim for you is to explore how you can use ChatGPT to your advantage and learn that it can help you when used correctly.
The main aim here is to learn about AI, what it can really do, how it can help you at work, and how you can enhance your career.
Don’t let imagination and fear stop you!

First of all, don’t panic! Our Universe has one constant: Change. So, if the day comes when your job changes completely, you can always pivot. You can help train AI, for example, and work remotely through Appen. Maybe you can shift to a more human career, like becoming a coach. Or perhaps you can pivot to doing something else. The trick is to be open and curious!
