Joanne M. Harris Runemarks: you have to love Loki

You have to read Joanne M. Harris Runemarks [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. If you love Loki, this is another great piece of literature on him. I read The Gospel of Loki [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] time ago, and then I put my eyes on Runemarks [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. It’s a masterpiece. If you compare the sizes of The Gospel of Loki and Runemarks you’ll realize that Loki has been creating some mischief. One book is small, and the other is so big. Blame the trickster.
Be advised: there are mild SPOILERS ahead. But don’t be surprised to find tons of incredible mischief, chaos, and trouble. If you find Loki in a book, well, he sets up stuff to be frenzy.
In this book, we follow the adventures of Maddy. She has a “ruinmark” that makes her especial. But also dangerous. This is a world that lives under the Order and the Word of the Nameless. The Order wants to eradicate everything from the old world.
Fortunately, Maddy makes an unlikely friend: One Eye. He’s an old man that tells stories from the past, from Ragnarok. After some havoc, Maddy ends up entering the World Below where she meets no other than Loki.
But things get more complicated than that. There’s Skadi, Idun, Heimdall, and other Gods like Hel in play. Now, the question is: who is really Maddy? Can she trust the Trickster?

This is a Masterpiece with plenty of surprises. You’ll find them in Maddy’s journey to the Underworld. You’ll also conclude that the use of names is smart. By now you should already know that One Eye is no other than Odin. But, there are other delightful surprises along the way.
The character building is amazing. The story is fast and easy to read. And, Loki is at his best. Everyone wants to kill him, and yet, he’s one of the heroes that saves the day. Loki, the agent of chaos, manages to survive because, against all the odds, he makes a friend.
If you love exciting stories with Gods and a certain Trickster, you’re going to love Runemarks!
By the way, Thor still needs time to understand what’s going on. Smart Loki and Dumb Thor are always a great option for any book (or movie). I won’t miss Runelight!
